The mother of Angelica Yap, more popularly known as “Pastillas girl” who appeared in a noontime show, was shot dead in the evening of November 29, 2015 in Caloocan City. Teresa Yap, a barangay councilor in Caloocan City, was about to have dinner in an eatery along Tagaytay Street when an unidentified man wearing a cap shot her in the head from behind. She was rushed to the Chinese General Hospital but was pronounced dead past 9 p.m. The owner of the eatery, Herman Domingo, told GMA News that he even heard the gunman say that Yap was beautiful and can pass as a celebrity. Then he said, “Pwede ko na palang tirahin ito eh“. That was when he shot Yap. He fled from the scene aboard a motorcycle to A. Bonifacio Avenue.

According to the relatives of Yap, she had been receiving death threats thru text messages but she just ignored them. The incident was captured in a closed circuit TV.
